On Turning One...
This gorgeous little man is ONE today... ONE (yep - feel like repeating this; it seems so surreal)!
He is the easiest, most contented, happy little boy I know - when he laughs, he really laughs - and you just have to laugh with him, it is like a deep belly laugh; (he is SO ticklish, it is easy to make him laugh)!
He really is our joy and our delight - we all adore him, and are so loving watching him grow and change and become a real little man! He blows my mind everyday, doing things and trying things that we never imagined he'd be trying yet... he is such the little climber, and he can't even walk yet!
I think we're going to have a busy lad on our hands though - there is no such thing as going around; he goes over, or under or through! No obstacle is to big or to small to attempt to conquer... yep, he is a goer!
My Mum calls him 'The Smiling Assassin' - he smiles all day at you, and yet he still goes ahead and does his own thing anyway (and he's only just turned one, imagine when he is a teenager *grin*)!
We all love our happy chappy to pieces - I can't remember what life was like before him, and yet it feels so unreal that he is already a year old. I don't know what has happened to this past year, but I am looking forward to the future watching him grow and change even more... he is my boy, my first boy - and holds a very special place in my heart.
Happy birthday sweet child of mine.
May you always know that we love you, may you always know we have your back... may you always feel the strength that comes from family; the strength to try new things, to attempt the impossible and to conquer your fears. May we, as your parents, be the kind of inspiration and encouragement that allows you to be all you can be; never holding back nor giving up. May you grow up to be everything God created you to be...
We love you Ash - always and forever.
On Sunday we are also choosing to dedicate our boy to God, just as we did his sister. And just as I did for her - I have written a small message to him; which will be read out during the service... here is his special message:
Asher - as you turn one year old, we are choosing to dedicate you to God, as we did your sister.
You are a gift to us, my son; and just as Lydia is the 'apple of our eye', you are 'our joy and our delight' and we all utterly adore you.
The name Asher means 'happy or blessed', and you are all that and more. Your big smile lights up your whole face, and generally the face of the one you are smiling at. Your big blue eyes sparkle with life, and already you are grabbing every opportunity given to you with both hands.
We pray that you will always face life with a smile and the positivity you show now, that you will fight for what is good, right and honourable in Gods sight. That you will excel in the areas of strength God has placed within you, but above all - you will always have a soft heart towards God, and towards your Mummy!
As your parents - we want to see you flourish and grow into the man God wants you to be. We want to see you reach your full potential, and we promise with God's help - we will encourage, guide and protect you to the very best of our ability.
May you always love God deeply, and live your life to the fullest.
We love you,
Daddy, Mummy and Lydia xx
