Burnt Potatoes and other things that make me GRUMPY!!!!!

Tuesday 16th November 2010 I had a bit of a burning problem today... not sure if I should be admitting it or not, but here it is! I, ahhh - burnt the potatoes I was cooking for dinner! Burnt the potatoes I hear you say - how on earth...???!!!! It's really quite simple; I had expected Button to not want to go to bed for another 20-30 minutes, but she cracked up earlier than I had anticipated, and when she cracks - she CRACKS! So I just popped upstairs to put her down, normally this 'little' job only takes about 10-15 minutes, as she quietly 'chats' herself to sleep in my arms. But NO - today she screamed for the first 10 minutes, and then she took another 15 or so minutes to actually settle down and go to sleep... it wasn't until I was in the middle of this saga that I remembered the potatoes AND pumpkin were both cooking on the stove on HIGH!!!!!  As time went on, I could smell the burning; but I also knew that if I popped Button down I'd have to start

Friday 12th November 2010 Sadly we have hit the teething season... my poor wee girl is grizzly and upset, and generally just not herself; so it's hello to good old pamol again! Poor little girl, it has taken two weeks of the grizzles before the tooth appeared, so up until now she has not had any pamol to help - I am very weary of giving her pamol for 'nothing', so with no idea what was causing the grizzles and no apparent physical causes (no temperatures or anything); we just 'kept on keeping on'!  Today, however, it is a different story - that wee tooth has come through, and we can see it, and she also had a slight temperature this morning; the only problem with pamol is that is then causes her further discomfort as it brings on her reflux worse... but in this instance, I think the benefits far outweigh the negatives! So it has been tears and cuddles and her Baby Einstein DVD all morning... thankfully today she is also sleeping (yesterday I got four 20 minute s

Sighing in Relief...

Friday 5th November 2010 Happy Guy Fawkes to all you Kiwi Mums out there... well, as happy as it can be when you have little ones trying to sleep through all the noise, or animals outside you might be worried about; and anything else that may be causing concern on such a strange night as this! Really - when you think about it, why we are celebrating an attempt to blow up Parliament is beyond me; may as well take a $20 bill and watch it burn! But anyway that is the cynical side of me, I am sure when Button is older we will enjoy watching her enjoy the fireworks displays - just like we did as kids! It is a pretty night, for all the rubbish lying around in the morning ;-)!!!!! Right now I am reveling in my free evening - for two nights in a row now Button has gone down to sleep at an appropriate time, last night it was 7pm and tonight it was 7:30pm... and we're loving having our evenings back! She had been doing amazingly well, but with daylight savings and then the sudden heat wa
